Google is an American multinational corporation (MNC) and IT company focusing on search engine technology, computer software, cloud computing, online advertising, quantum computing, e-commerce, consumer electronics, and artificial intelligence (AI).

ORIGIN AND HISTORY OF NAME

Google was founded on September 4, 1998, by American computer scientists Larry Page and Sergey Brin ( See the picture for those brilliant duo from Left to Right) Page and Brin originally nicknamed the new search engine “BackRub“, later they changed the name to Google. The name of the search engine (Google) was a misspelling of the word googol. GOOGOLA very large number written 10100 (1 followed by 100 zeros), picked to signify that the search engine was intended to provide large quantities of information.

PageRank (PR) is an algorithm used by Google Search to rank web pages in their search engine results. It is named after both the term “web page” and co-founder Larry Page.

On August 10, 2015, Google announced plans to reorganize its various interests as a conglomerate named Alphabet Inc. Google’s parent company, Alphabet Inc., is one of the five Big Tech companies, alongside Amazon, Apple, Meta, and Microsoft and the market cap of Alphabet as of September 06, 2024 is $1857.83B.

Pichai Sundararajan better known as Sundar Pichai is an Indian-born American Engineer and  business executive is the chief executive officer (CEO) of Alphabet Inc. and its subsidiary Google.  He was the alumni of IIT, Kharagpur (B.Tech) of India and Stanford Univeristy (M.S) & Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania(MBA).
